Towering nearly three feet tall, this DNA model is ideal for presentations or
hands-on investigations. Magnetic connectors, representing hydrogen bonds,
permit the two strands of the double helix to unzip completely, mimicking the
mechanism of DNA replication and RNA synthesis.

- Removable nucleotides show why a larger purine base must always pair with
a smaller pyrimidine base
- Complementary base pairs are also demonstrated: adenine must pair with
thymine to form two hydrogen bonds, while guanine must mate with cytosine to
form three hydrogen bonds
- Nonseparable atoms connected by permanent flexible "bonds" form
the sugar-phosphate backbone of the molecule
- Molded, high-density polystyrene atoms are color coded as follows:
carbon—black, hydrogen—white, nitrogen—blue, oxygen—red,
phosphorus—yellow
- Encompassing six base pairs, the three-dimensional double helix is
supported on a hardwood base and can be rotated for viewing from all angles
