The support ring and clamps are cast-iron construction to prevent breakage under normal use. Sturdy 5/16 in. (7.9mm) setscrew in integral clamp locks ring tightly to support stands, lattices, etc. Ring center is standard 41/2 in. (11cm) from support rod center. 2 in. (51mm) size ring has lugs for holding crucibles.
