| Description |
Silvery-white metal of the lanthanide (rare earth) group.
Tarnishes in air, reacts slowly with cold water, rapidly with hot. Used in
alloys for permanent-magnets, flints, glazes, and glass. Diagnostic tests:
There are no simple diagnostic tests to identify neodymium.
X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy is commonly employed to identify and
analyze members of the Rare-Earth group elements.
